Quiz Time......

The council of Gateshead want to knock down this incredibly ugly building(understandably) but there are a lot of people (and not just in this area, but around the WORLD) that want it to stay.Anybody know why? Posted by Picasa

I can't imagine why they'd want to keep it. Does it have a history?

It must have a history. I googled but only found information on St. James Park Stadium and Gateshead International Stadium. Neither look like the stadium in your photo.

No problem...

To be honest - the loss of one of Gateshead's 'monuments' is no great loss though, eh? (as long as they don't go and build more 'quality office space' on the land anyway.... ;)

I was too impatient to wait for the answer and looked the answer up on Google - but won't say anything. Will it be replaced by a public park, free sports centre, social centre for the elderly (he asks doubtfully)?

It just looks like an ugly parking garage to me... Is it next to a stadium or some place important where people would want to go to and loose the parking spot if the building was gone?
