Bridge of Flowers.

I got to the area of the opening ceremony early to make sure I got to see what was going on ,and the first thing I saw was the huge amount of flowers that had been laid on the Millenium bridge from the Gateshead side,right across to the Newcastle side.

Royal Station Hotel.

The Royal Station Hotel is situated right next to Newcastle central station(of course!) and was opened in 1858 by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Aswell as very grand hotel it has a trendy public bar downstairs to the left.

Which way?

I love these signs.They are dotted around all over the city centre but I bet most people dont even see them. Yet again you can see the 'castle' on top of the sign.

Not a 100% sure what was going on here but I do know that it was for the local paper.
I couldn't find out who they were and I looked but never even saw the picture he took in the paper.
A big thankyou to Denton for twiddling the knobs and pushing the buttons tomorrow as I am away with work.

Police funeral.

A very sad story behind this image. The police are setting up for a funeral the following day.A fellow officer was killed in the line of duty,and he was a very popular family man. The church where the service took place is just out of shot on the left.

I will post a happier photo's from this side of town another day.

My Card.

An unusual (and possibly boring!) picture today.I just wanted to show how I'm trying to get more visitors to my DP blog. It helps if I catch people in the street or if anybody asks what I am taking picture of-or why. Also it was a fairly cheap idea. What do the other DP bloggers think...would this work for you?

At last--today's the day! To celebrate here is a picture I took in the pub last week.I'm sorry if your flag isn't there but I only took 2 shots-so this is a small 'panorama'. (I should have taken another to the left)
Let's hope this is the best World cup ever and I hope your country does as well as it can.....C'MON ENGLAND!!!!!!

World Cup-2(mars bars)

I love this. Mars Bars have been renamed during the World cup as 'Believe'!!
I'm pretty sure Mars Bars are available world wide so has any other country done this?
Please let me know.
Since I set this photo up I discovered I had been beaten to this by a rather irate Scotsman HI GRANT !! Funnily enough I think sales of Mars/Believe have gone up in England.
Grant if it helps, I did here a very funny joke about small ****'s and white flags with red crosses on ,the other day!!
Only one day to go!!

World cup-1(flags)

Only 2 days to go and I'm starting to get really excited about the biggest sporting event in the world.( I know some people say it's the Olympics,but I don't agree). This car really made me laugh.Everywhere you go at the moment England flags are flying.The owner of this car obvioulsy has a Scottish wife,or husband and wasn't going to allow just England flags on thier car!

Holy Jesus Hospital-2.

A closer view of the Hospital. It was used as a museum from 1971 until 1994. I think it used as a some semi-commercial building now by the 'National Trust'.
